We asked Candice some questions to get to know her better and here are her answers…

What is your absolute favorite thing that you’ve made?
My favorite thing that I have made have to be my lace cardigans, it was something different from what I have made and received lots of compliments.

What are some of your favorite clothing stores/catalogs/websites?
Lately I’ve been shopping at goodwill, finding vintage items and making them modern. I love Charlotte Russe! My favorite website to get shoes is gojane.com

How would you define your personal style?
My personal style is pretty simple and not over the top. Its more of the romantic and classic style with a little edge.

Describe the general process you go through to design and realize a piece of clothing.
I’ve never seem to start off by sketching my idea, I just go ahead and buy the fabric and create what’s going through my head.

Get to know the designers before the big show on Sunday!

We asked Julie some questions to get to know her better and here are her answers…

What one piece of advice would you give to someone wanting to start a career in fashion?

Be true to yourself and your own personal style and don’t follow other trends so much. You have the power to create your own trends.

Who’s your role model? Why?

It may sound cliche but my father is definitely my role model. He taught me to work hard since I was young and always encouraged me to follow my dreams.

What do you wish people would understand about working in the fashion industry?

It is NOT always fun!! Haha. Its a big investment, whether you are sewing yourself or paying a factory to do it, it’s also time consuming and is not just a hobby. It’s a fulltime job!

What trends do you see being big for 2012?
From what I have seen and read, pastels, whimsical prints, lots of flowy loose clothing and flared bottoms.

Get to know the designers before the big show on Sunday!

We asked Lilu some questions to get to know her better and here are her answers…

Where do you get your inspiration?
Classic movies and tv shows is one place that I get my inspiration from. I’ve recently been inspired by Mad Men and the simple lines of womens clothing. I love seeing well-dressed, confident women and it inspires me to design for those same women.

If you could design the wardrobe for any movie or TV show, which would it be?
“Funny Face” is one of my favorite movies of all-time. To have been a part of the iconic designs that came out of that movie would have been a dream come true.

You have also started your own jewelry line. How does designing jewlery differ from designing clothes?
It doesn’t differ much at all. A necklace can take me just as long to make than a top, with the design time and how intricate it is. However, I find my inspiration with jewelry usually comes from different places. Architecture, nature, and even photography inspire me to make my pieces of jewelry.

What are the five things you can’t live without?
Food, a good glass of red wine, laughter, passionate people and the desire to succeed.

Get to know the designers before the big show on Sunday!

We asked Danielle some questions to get to know her better and here are her answers…

What do you think the industry lacks and what did/do you hope to bring to the table?

With all the wonderful talent within the fashion industry, I believe people have the option to wear what they want and be who they want to be because the fashion industry has evolved so much that the art of fashion and individuality is more accepted in our society. I hope to only bring another option to the table with my designs to help broaden the fashion spectrum. I also hope to be a designer who’s name does live on even after I am long gone.

What is you favorite song to belt out at the bar/in the car/for karaoke?

Believe it or not music inspires everything I do and I love every genre of music. Before designing clothes, I listen to music just to imagine my muse walking down the street with her own theme song. Amazingly my runway music is picked out way before I start sewing. Right now, I think I can listen to Cobra Starship’s “You make me feel”. Its such an up beat and fun song. Listening to it before I go to work in the mornings puts me in a high energetic mood.

What makes your clothes unique?

I would say my clothes are unique because being a self taught designer, it can sometimes be a challenge to learn something that I did not receive formal training in. To make a piece of clothing is a new, rewarding challenge for me. My clothing is unique because to see a piece I have designed, you are getting a piece of who I am, whether I am telling a story or presenting a common theme, my collection brings on a personality of its own.

Ten years from now you will be….?

Ten years from now I hope to be a big name designer featured in Fashion Weeks across the globe and in top fashion magazines. My dream is to see people wear my clothing and feel great wearing my designs wherever they may be.
