We asked Danielle some questions to get to know her better and here are her answers…

What do you think the industry lacks and what did/do you hope to bring to the table?
 
With all the wonderful talent within the fashion industry, I believe people have the option to wear what they want and be who they want to be because the fashion industry has evolved so much that the art of fashion and individuality is more accepted in our society. I hope to only bring another option to the table with my designs to help broaden the fashion spectrum. I also hope to be a designer who’s name does live on even after I am long gone. 
 
What is you favorite song to belt out at the bar/in the car/for karaoke?
 
Believe it or not music inspires everything I do and I love every genre of music. Before designing clothes, I listen to music just to imagine my muse walking down the street with her own theme song. Amazingly my runway music is picked out way before I start sewing. Right now, I think I can listen to Cobra Starship’s “You make me feel”. Its such an up beat and fun song. Listening to it before I go to work in the mornings puts me in a high energetic mood.
 
What makes your clothes unique?
 
I would say my clothes are unique because being a self taught designer, it can sometimes be a challenge to learn something that I did not receive formal training in. To make a piece of clothing is a new, rewarding challenge for me. My clothing is unique because to see a piece I have designed, you are getting a piece of who I am, whether I am telling a story or presenting a common theme, my collection brings on a personality of its own.
 
Ten years from now you will be….?
 
Ten years from now I hope to be a big name designer featured in Fashion Weeks across the globe and in top fashion magazines. My dream is to see people wear my clothing and feel great wearing my designs wherever they may be.

Press registration is open to any member of the broadcast, print and Internet media who can prove they work for an organization or publication that covers fashion/retail/manufacturing/news or entertainment on a regular basis.
Our policy is one writer and one photographer per media outlet. Please note that press passes are limited.

Qualified media representatives (as defined above) must present a valid business card (with individual’s name and title, and the name of Media Company) a valid outlet-issued credentials or the masthead from an approved media outlet with individual’s name and title listed.
 
Freelance writers and photographers must present a letter of assignment from an approved outlet to be granted a PRESS badge.

On Friday, January 6, 2012 EMERGE held its casting call for models at Dapper Style House, located at 317-113 West Morgan St., Raleigh, NC 27601. In attendance at the event were many local photographers, hair and makeup artists, and industry professionals. In all, 103 models attended the casting and over 160 people stopped by to view!

Designer Lilu Jael (Leluna Star) said this was the largest turnout for a casting call in three years. “We are now in our third year hosting this fashion show and it is amazing to see the response; from local designers wanting to showcase their work, the enormous response from photographers and videographers, to new fresh faces wanting to model!”

The designers for this year’s show are: Dani Olivia, Julkee, Leluna Star, Leneva and featured boutique, Dapper Style House.

The event will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at The Oxford Restaurant, located at 319-105 Fayetteville Street, Raleigh, NC 27601. Check out the photos from the casting call here.

 RALEIGH, NC – December 28, 2011 – EMERGE fashion presents its 3^rd annual charity fashion show: “Evolution of Fashion.” The annual runway exhibition is created and produced by local fashion designers and will be held at The Oxford Restaurant located at 319 Fayetteville St., Raleigh, NC 27601 at 8:00 PM on Sunday, February 26, 2012.

 This years’ fashion show will feature the designs of: Dani Oliva, Leluna Star, Julkee, Leneva and Dapper Style House with proceeds benefiting the TAMMY LYNN CENTER FOR DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES; a non-profit agency that offers education, residential and family support services to children and adults with special needs. 

 Every aspect of the production – from lighting and set design, to marketing and promotion, guest services, public relations and of course, the runway collections – have been created from concept to execution for and by local designers.

 “Evolution of Fashion” is an opportunity for local talent to experience the electric energy of a major runway production.  Not only does the show provide them with a great opportunity to develop their design and production skills, but it also allows them the opportunity to be a part of one of Raleigh’s premier fashion events benefiting charity.

Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities was established in 1969 by parents of children with special needs: Billy and Ruth Pierce (whose daughter, the late Tammy Lynn Pierce, is the Center’s namesake), Betty and C. Durham Moore, Jr., and Helen and Irvin B. Tucker. The Center’s goal is to provide the individuals it serves the opportunity to maximize their abilities in a loving, nurturing environment.  Proceeds from this event benefit Tammy Lynn Memorial Foundation which supports the following programs and services of Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities:  Respite Care Services, Community Residential, Early Childhood Intervention Services and Non-Medicaid Day Services.
